New York Knicks’ Josh Hart Praises Veteran Sharpshooter for Being a ‘True Professional’ in Game 5 Victory Vs. Indiana Pacers
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Knicks are on the brink of making their first trip to the Eastern Conference Finals since 2000, as they went up 3-2 in their second-round series against the Indiana Pacers with a 121-91 blowout victory on Tuesday night.

After failing to hit the 40-point mark in Games 2 to 4, including a lackluster 18-point performance last time out, Jalen Brunson reached 40 points for the fifth time this postseason, tallying 44 points, seven assists, four rebounds on 18-of-35 shooting from the field in Game 5.

Josh Hart and Miles McBride were the other starters who recorded double-digit points for the New York Knicks, as the former had 18 points, 11 rebounds, and three rebounds, while the latter had 17 points and four assists.

Isaiah Hartenstein also had a fine performance for the New York Knicks, notching seven points, 17 rebounds, and five assists while providing the team a much-needed physical presence in the paint.

Josh Hart applauds Alec Burks for staying ready for the New York Knicks

One of the New York Knicks players who received plaudits is Alec Burks, as the 13-year journeyman was huge in the Game 5 blowout victory. Burks provided a spark off the bench with 18 points, five rebounds, and five three-pointers.

When asked about the performance, Josh Hart said he wasn’t surprised with Alec Burks’ outing, calling him a consummate professional.

“He’s a true professional. He’s someone who’s staying ready. You see him every day working hard, getting shots up, getting his work in. That’s what pros do,” Hart said about Burks via Knicks Videos on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Before the second round, Alec Burks was out of the rotation entirely until he was brought back into the fold when OG Anunoby was sidelined by injuries. To his credit, the 32-year-old swingman made the most of his opportunities, recording 14 and 20 points in Games 3 and 4, respectively.
