Cowboys Schedule Release: We officially have a date for the Diggs Brothers Bowl
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

One of the most fascinating storylines in the 2024 NFL season will take place on Monday Night Football in November 18 when the Dallas Cowboys take on the Houston Texans during Week 11.

Although many will try to make it about the in-state rivalry that these two teams represent, that's not why I have this one marked in my calendar months in advance following today's schedule release. Instead, it's a brotherhood rivalry I'm thinking about.

Stefon Diggs and Trevon Diggs will be lining up in a game likely to draw a lot of eyeballs not only because of the primetime slot but because of the quarterbacks playing in Dak Prescott and C.J. Stroud.

Will Trevon Diggs line up against his brother?

Not to take anything away from the Kelce Brothers, who played against each other for the highest stakes in the game, the Lombardi Trophy, but what makes this truly special is that the Diggs brothers will actually be matching up play after play.

Now granted, I'd be surprised if Trevon shadows Stefon on this one. The latter tends to move around a lot and in this day and age, cornerbacks rarely shadow opposing receivers. With that being said, Stefon did line up out wide in 63% of the snaps last year per PFF, which suggests Trevon could get his snaps against him more than just a handful of times.

We don't know how Texans OC Bobby Slowik plans to use Stefon but he's likely going to remain primarily an outside receiver.

What is also clear is that you can absolutely expect Trevon to be in Mike Zimmer's ear all week long about how he should let him handle Stefon. After all, he does know him closely and will likely be aware of his tendencies.

But let's not fool ourselves: The same can be said for Stefon, which means this battle will be solely determined by who's the better player that day on the field. If the Cowboys want to keep the bragging rights for themselves for another two years, they'll need Trevon and his teammates to thrive.

How bad do these two brothers want it?

On a scale from 1 to "we'll switch roles in the Pro Bowl to earn bragging rates"? Well, you get the point.

At the 2022 Pro Bowl, Stefon played cornerback for the AFC while Trevon entered as an NFC wide receiver just so they could get a rep against each other after Trevon had successfully defended a pass thrown the then Buffalo Bills WR's way.

In that same game, Stefon got to rush into the end zone for six points while pointing as his brother as Trevon fell to the ground trying to reach him to make the tackle.

Yeah, these brothers are ready to go to war against each other.
